Doug Molyneux is Counsel in both the Funds and Investment Services and the Telecommunications and Technology Teams within the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group. He practices in the area of company/commercial law and has worked both in-house and with law firms internationally, including The Anglo American Corporation in Johannesburg, Citicorp/Citibank in London, Jardine Matheson in Hong Kong, and Global Crossing in Bermuda, Dublin and Los Angeles.
Doug graduated from the University of Glasgow with an LLB (Hons) degree in 1979 and served as an articled clerk with Bishop & Co. in Glasgow, before joining the Anglo American Group in Johannesburg as a Legal Adviser in 1983 doing corporate/commercial work. From 1986 to 1988, Doug was with Citicorp/Citibank in London doing, principally, mergers & acquisitions work. In Hong Kong, with Jardines, Doug was Senior Legal Adviser and worked on a variety of commercial transactions both in Hong Kong and internationally. Doug first joined Appleby in 1992 until 1998. Since then, Doug had six years with Global Crossing as Senior Legal Adviser, two years as Senior Legal Consultant with the Commission for Telecommunications Regulation in Dublin and two years as General Counsel with Amp'd Mobile, a mobile phone/entertainment company based in Santa Monica, California.
Doug was called to the Bermuda Bar in 1991 and rejoined Appleby in February 2008. He has since worked on several private equity transactions, amalgamations and restructurings involving both public and private companies.
